About the Department

• Established in the year 1991.
• Offers 5 Undergraduate programs (4 years), 3 Postgraduate programs (2 years), an integrated M. Tech program (5 years), and doctoral programs.
• B. Tech – Electronics and Communication Engineering accredited by NBA and the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, USA (https://www.abet.org).
• M.Tech – VLSI Design accredited by NBA.
• Approved by AICTE under Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) Scheme
• Equipped with 8 Research labs funded by DST under FIST, AICTE, DRDO, BRNS, ISRO, UGC, SERB, IEEE EDS, Xilinx.
• Established Center for Electronics Skill Development and Consultancy Services (CESD), to provide training on PCB design, Embedded System design, Electronics Manufacturing Services, EDA tools and RF Circuit design and have an anechoic chamber for antenna characterization.
• Awarded with 5G Lab by the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Govt. of India.
• Recognized as a Skill Hub for training of manpower on the job role “VLSI Design Engineer” under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 4.0) scheme of Govt. of India.
• Under the Chip to Startup (C2S) Programme of MeitY, Electron Device Automation (EDA) tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, ANSYS and Keysight have been made available to SRMIST to train students in the area of VLSI and Embedded System Design.
• Visvesvaraya Ph.d scheme for Electronics and IT from MeitY, GOI, is granted to full-time and part time research scholars.
• 2 Post-Doctoral Fellowship seats were filled under ‘Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase II
• Collaborations with more than 10 industries like Wipro, HCLTECH, Samsung, Volvo, CoreEL Technologies, Keysight Technologies, Entuple Technologies (Synopsys), for skill development of students and faculty members.
• Signed an MoU with Nokia Solutions and Networks India Pvt. Ltd, Centre for Reliability Science and Technology, Chang Gung University, Taiwan, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan, Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), Nano-Academic Technologies Inc., Canada, and Numergion Technology Pvt. Ltd., Pune, India. for the curriculum enhancement, Product development and skill development of students and faculty members.
• The faculty members of the ECE department are versatile in many diversified fields. They have good research potential, with 3300+ research articles published in both SCI and Scopus indexed journals and 60 granted patents to their credentials.
